Evaluate your municipality

From the “Safe and Healthy School Environments” initiative we have developed 11 indicators so that municipalities, associations, schools or any interested body can carry out self-assessments on the state of school environments and the promotion of active, sustainable and autonomous mobility of children and adolescents in their municipalities.

These 11 indicators, linked to the proposals of the “Safe and Healthy School Environments” initiative, have been designed so that each municipality or interested organisation/agent can make an initial and periodical assessment (every 2 years), in order to know initially at what stage the assessed school environments are at and afterwards to see the progress over time.

In this way, they can be aware of what needs to be improved in order to reach the “ideal” situation. It should be noted that these indicators are a simplification, and that many more could be used, but we believe that they are sufficient and more feasible to apply, and allow us to have an idea of the situation in each municipality and also to raise awareness of the need to take concrete measures, as well as to offer tools so that the necessary changes are carried out (see the section “What else can you do?” on the initiative’s website).

How does it work?

Participation is very simple; you can carry out a self-evaluation on the basis of indicators that are relatively easy to obtain and report.

Who can participate?

Participation is open to all municipalities, associations, schools or any interested body.
